Long Beach Port Tour with LBH

Long Beach Heritage members are invited to go on a harbor cruise sponsored by the Port of Long Beach on Saturday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m.  We will be departing from Dock 2, next to the Aquarium, on a Harbor Breeze boat. Park in the Aquarium of the Pacific parking structure and your ticket will be validated on the boat.  Click here to view the map. Boarding will be at 10:45.

Reservations are required. If you  have made reservations, don't worry, your name is on our list. If you have not made reservations, there are a few openings so please call the office - 562-493-7019.

This event will include a tour of the sights and sounds of the second busiest port in the United States. We will hear about the history of the port from its inception in 1911. It originally consisted of 800 acres of mud that had to be dredged, then a wooden wharf was constructed, and soon lumber schooners arrived from northern California. Today the port has innovative “green” piers that allow huge container ships to turn off their polluting engines while docked. The historic Administration building with its tile mural illustrating the history of the Port of Long Beach up to 1958, when construction began, is a notable piece of architecture.
