The Bembridge House (1906) is a magnificent and highly ornate example of late Queen Anne Victorian architecture, and both the exterior and interior exemplify the finest accomplishments of turn-of-the-century architectural designers and craftsmen. The Bembridge House is the single most important example of this style of architecture remaining in the Long Beach today, and is considered by many to be the most significant residential historic landmark structure in the City.

Long Beach Heritage purchased the house in August 2000. The Bembridge House has been recognized as a Long Beach Historical Landmark and is in the California Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.

Dorothy R. Bembridge
1910-1999

The story of the Rankin family is typical of the early settlers of Long Beach. Dorothy Rankin Bembridge grew up in the Queen Ann Victorian Bembridge House and maintained it as a single-family residence in its original condition during her lifetime.
