Rendering of For the Record installation created by City Fabrick

See history before your eyes — and under your feet!

Thanks in part to your generous donations, For the Record launched on November 18, 2019. This interactive timeline takes history to the streets, telling overlooked stories of the heritage that surrounds us.

For the Record is a placemaking project created in partnership with lead organization We Are The Next and other community leaders to help broaden the story told about North Long Beach by highlighting lesser known events and people who have shaped the city and neighborhood. A series of decals along Atlantic Avenue, between the Michelle Obama Library and Jordan High School, will reach as far back as 1784 to tell the history through an interactive timeline.

Every weekday, hundreds of local teens and neighborhood residents walk this path and For the Record seeks to empower them with knowledge of the history that surrounds them. Visit For the Record’s digital home at lbtimeline.com to learn more.
