Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of Long Beach Heritage. Even one hour a week can make a big impact. Here are some of the ways you can get involved:

The Bembridge House
Our nationally recognized 1906 Queen Anne Victorian headquarters has many opportunities:

  • House tour docents: Tours are conducted regularly. Training required: scripted.
  • Heritage Holiday room docents: Similar to House tour docents only you are stationed in just one room, only during the holiday season. No training: scripted.
  • Event help: Numerous events are hosted here throughout the year and volunteers are often needed for a variety of set up and event help. No training.
  • Gardens: Gardeners are needed on Thursdays to help with the upkeep of the outside grounds.

Committees and Leadership
We are always looking for members who would like to get involved more, such as:

  • Board of Directors
  • Advocacy Committee (save places that matter to you)
  • Preservation Awards Committee
  • Suggest your own committee of interest

Home Tour Docents
At least once a year Long Beach Heritage puts on a Great Homes of Long Beach tour throughout the City. We maintain a list of volunteers we contact for availability when these tours are conducted. In addition, occasionally Long Beach Heritage will help local historic buildings and neighborhoods with their tours and reach out to the list for those as well. No Training: scripted.

Walking Tour Docents
Share your love of Downtown Long Beach during our regular walking tours. The tours are roughly 2 hours and conducted on Saturdays 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Note: Long Beach Heritage also arranges tours by special request at non-regular times for visiting convention groups and groups of at least 5 people. Training required: scripted.
